How they prepared to live without a fixed home or steady paycheck
The lessons and liberation that come from asking for help after a lifetime of radical independence

I met Alecia years ago, back when both of us were still trying to make our lives make sense inside the systems we’d been taught to serve. Even then, there was something about the way they moved through the world—curious, questioning, unwilling to settle for half-truths—that told me they’d one day leap outside of it entirely.
That leap came after finishing a dual master’s program and realizing that the corporate world they’d trained for wasn’t built for their neurodivergent brilliance or their values. Instead of climbing the ladder, Alecia did something radical: they stepped off it.
They downsized, released obligations, and began listening to what their body—and the universe—were actually saying. That intuitive listening became the foundation of a nomadic life that values community over consumption and reciprocity over routine.
In this episode, Alecia shares how asking for help became a spiritual practice, how solitude became medicine, and how chosen discomfort led to deeper healing than years of “doing everything right.” They talk about the four-hour meditation that shifted their relationship with anxiety, the “Book of Remembering” they created to ground themselves through panic, and the small daily choices that add up to sovereignty: where to spend money, where to give attention, where to rest.
What I love most about Alecia’s story is that it’s not about escape—it’s about return. A return to values, to intuition, to a way of living that honors the body’s truth. They remind us that liberation doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes it looks like letting go of your storage unit. Sometimes it looks like walking instead of calling for a ride, just to see what the lesson has to say.
If you’ve been feeling the quiet tug to live closer to your own truth, this conversation is for you. It’s a permission slip to question the systems you’ve been surviving inside, to speak your needs out loud, and to take one small, brave step toward the life your intuition has been trying to hand you all along.
With much love,
Sarah
