Even Joy Can Stretch You: Support in the Good Transitions
Why intuitive care matters during the positive shifts, not just the painful ones
I normally publish essays every Monday and Friday, but this one is arriving on a Saturday. Partly because time is an illusion, and partly because I’m giving myself the space to integrate everything that’s been moving through me this week.
So often we only think to ask for support when life is handing us the hard chapters — the dissolving relationships, the endings we didn’t want, the identity shifts we didn’t choose.
But what about the transitions that are joyful?
The ones that arrive like a sunrise — warm, welcome, and full of possibility?
I’m in the midst of a really positive transformation right now (more on that soon!), and it’s been teaching me something I didn’t expect: ease doesn’t eliminate the need for care. Expansion requires just as much tending as contraction. When the energy moving through your life intensifies — even if it’s beautiful — your body still feels it. Your nervous system still recalibrates. Old patterns still get stirred. Your intuition still asks for space to speak clearly.
Joy can be overwhelming, too.
Leveling up can be draining, too.
Even good things stretch us.
We don’t talk about that enough.
We glorify the glow-ups and the manifestations without acknowledging the energetic labor beneath them. But every transition, whether luminous or heartbreaking, asks your system to reorganize itself into a new version of you. And that process is tender. It’s sacred. It deserves witnessing, grounding, and support.
This is exactly why I created my Transition Doula work.
Not to be someone’s crisis companion…
but to be a guide for every threshold moment.
The initiations.
The breakthroughs.
The sudden clarity.
The “holy shit, my life is actually shifting” moments that feel exhilarating one second and wobbly the next.
Because when you’re expanding quickly, when your intuition is rearranging your path in real time, you deserve to be held just as much as when you’re grieving or unraveling. Support isn’t only for the hard times. It’s for the times when your soul is stretching into a higher octave of itself.
And honestly? These are the moments when having someone reflect your clarity back to you… track the symbols… help you stay grounded… remind you what’s yours and what’s just old energy shaking loose… can make the difference between growing with ease or collapsing under momentum.
I’m walking through a portal right now, and it feels so good — but it’s still a lot. I’m tending my body. I’m slowing my pace. I’m staying close to my intuition. I’m letting myself receive support… even though nothing is “wrong.”
Maybe you’re in one of those portals, too.
If you are, or if you feel one approaching, you don’t have to navigate the shift alone. This is the work I love the most: supporting people through the full spectrum of becoming.
If you’d like support for whatever threshold you’re crossing next, my Transition Doula sessions are open.

And stay tuned… I can’t wait to share what’s unfolding.
I call in Seshat, the recorder of every unfolding story, she who measures the growth rings of the soul.
May she help us trust the chapters that are emerging now, and hold the spaciousness we need to integrate what is rising.
May she remind us that expansion is sacred work — even when it feels light, bright, and full of ease.

This is surely an often overlooked truth: even joy requires integration.
To honor the stretch of expansion is to meet your own becoming with reverence.
Thank you for this
🙏🙏
What a beautiful reminder that great expansion can still require gentleness of self! What a blessing to find the lesson in it! So happy for your well-deserved time of ease & expansion!!
