Listening Is the Practice

Some conversations feel like a remembering.

Sitting down with my friend Princess Rara—co-host of the globally ranked podcast Pink Kink—felt like returning to a frequency that shaped me deeply: the frequency of trust, consent, play, and intuition.

Long before I called myself a Transition Doula, the kink scene was one of my earliest training grounds for listening to my body and finding my voice. In spaces where intensity and vulnerability coexist, clarity matters. Communication matters. Consent isn’t assumed—it’s negotiated, named, and revisited.

Rara speaks beautifully about informed consent: not just saying yes, but knowing exactly what you’re consenting to, understanding risks, safety protocols, limits, and—most importantly—having the ability to stop at any moment. That level of care isn’t restrictive. It’s what makes freedom possible.

What struck me most in this conversation is how much joy lives in that structure. Kink, at its best, is playful. It’s creative. It’s adults remembering how to play without abandoning responsibility. It’s laughter in the dungeon, chosen family at the table, and the permission to be fully yourself—without apology.

We also talk about aftercare and integration—how scenes, like any powerful experience, require gentleness afterward. Not everything is meant to be cathartic. Sometimes it’s just fun. Sometimes something deeper moves. The skill is presence either way.

And underneath everything is the same truth I come back to again and again on this podcast: trust your gut.

If something feels off, it is.
If you’re asking yourself, “Is this normal?” you already know the answer.
Your intuition doesn’t disappear just because you’re new—or because someone else has a bigger reputation.

This episode isn’t just about kink. It’s about learning how to listen to yourself in spaces where it matters most—and then carrying that skill back into life.

May you keep choosing curiosity, consent, and the quiet wisdom of your own knowing.
